Billionaire businessman, Mike Adenuga is being detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Eyewitness accounts state that Adenuga’s Victoria Island mansion was stormed, commando style, yesterday by men of the EFCC. Doors, chairs and other properties were destroyed in the raid.
According to our sources, the security operatives who went to Adenuga’s mansion were unable to apprehend him because of the creative security network at his home. A source told us: “Basically, the guy escaped from the house even though he was there when the EFCC men arrived.” Elendureports.com investigations indicate that the ‘move’ against Adenuga may not be unconnected with the politics of succession to the Presidency. Adenuga reported to the EFCC this morning after consulting with close friends and allies who advised him not to flee the country. Already, his family and friends are putting together a high powered legal team in the event that he is detained beyond forty-eight hours without arraignment. Elendureports.com has made series of calls to the offices of the EFCC chairman Nuhu Ribadu and the Osita Nwajah the Commission’s spokesperson. Our calls were not returned but an EFCC source confirmed to us that Adenuga is in their custody. In a related development, Otunba Fasawe, businessman and former friend of Pres. Obasanjo was released from detention two days ago. Fasawe has been in detention for nearly six weeks.
