(UPDATE) Strike: Diezani shuns Reps again

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, on Thursday shunned a meeting called by the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream/Downstream) and Gas.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss and find solutions to the ongoing strike by members of staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

PDP NEC adopts Jonathan for 2015 election

The National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has unanimously adopted President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

The decision, which was taken at the party’s NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday, is expected to be ratified at the party’s national convention billed to hold on December 6.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi have dismissed comments by the infamous and draconian former Commissioner of Police in Rivers State Joseph Mbu, who while apparently referring to Governor Amaechi described himself as a lion who tamed the Governor in Port Harcourt.

Toll in Nigeria building collapse hits 70

The toll in a building collapse at a church complex in Nigeria's commercial capital Lagos reached 70 Wednesday, a spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said in the latest development on the incident which occurred last week.

Ibrahim Farinloye, spokesman of the response agency in Nigeria's southwest region, told reporters at the site of the tragedy that a total of 70 bodies were pulled out from the rubble of the building during the rescue operation. A total of 171 survivors were also rescued during the operation, he added, according to Xinhua.
