NBA confirms Waliís release from kidnappers

It has been confirmed by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, that its immediate past president, Okey Wali, SAN, who was abducted by unknown gunmen on October 11 has been released.‎‎

A statement issued on Thursday night by the Association’s President, Augustine Alegeh, SAN, indicates that the kidnapped Senior Advocate was released at about 11p.m. on Thursday.

Nigeria risks new Fifa ban

Abuja - Nigeria is at risk of another Fifa ban after a court declared the elections that ushered in Amaju Pinnick as president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) illegal.

World football governing body Fifa have warned that should anything hinder the newly-elected NFF executive committee led by Pinnick, the former Delta FA chairman, from operating, they will move for an automatic ban of Nigeria till the next Fifa congress in May.

Patience Jonathan resigns as Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa

The First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has resigned her appointment as Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Civil Service.

Mrs. Jonathan was appointed to the position in July 2012 by Governor Seriake Dickson, five months into his administration.

Sources in the Bayelsa state government told PREMIUM TIMES the First Lady decided to quit following “irreconcilable differences with Governor Dickson”.

Atikuís loyalists ask Buhari to drop presidential bid

A political pressure group, Turaki Vanguard, has asked former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, to drop his ambition to contest the 2015 presidential election.

The group, which is canvassing support for the presidential bid of a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, said in a statement that Mr. Buhari’s presence in the presidential contest would neither enrich it nor enhance the fortune of their party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

President Goodluck Jonathan has said he will pick his nomination form on or before the expiration of the deadline given to all aspirants, by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

He stated his decision at a private meeting with governors held at the House 7 wing of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

An official source, who was privy to the meeting, said the president thanked the governors for endorsing him and said he has finally made up his mind to take the baton of expression.

ImagePresident Goodluck Jonathan has said he will pick his nomination form on or before the expiration of the deadline given to all aspirants, by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

He stated his decision at a private meeting with governors held at the House 7 wing of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

An official source, who was privy to the meeting, said the president thanked the governors for endorsing him and said he has finally made up his mind to take the baton of expression.
