The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega has said the commission is barred by law from funding

registered political parties.

Jega stated this yesterday in Abuja, shortly after declaring open a three-day Train the Trainers workshop which focused on the role and responsibilities of political party agents on Election Day which was organised by INEC, in collaboration with the Democratic Governance for Development Project (DGD) of the UNDP.

Title holder Nigeria has called up 23 players, including ace goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, for next month’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

matches against the Red Devils of Congo and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Omatsone Aluko, Nosa Igiebor and Chinedu Obasi also got a recall into the Eagles team.

The list released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday also included defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Efe Ambrose, midfielders Ogenyi Onazi and John Mike Obi and forwards Ahmed Musa and Emmanuel Emenike.

Former chairman and until recently All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has said that he would not taunt his former associates in the APC such as Governors Rotimi Amaechi and Rabiu Kwankwanso.

Ribadu in a statement, yesterday, also claimed that his defection to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is to establish good governance in the country.

I have been made aware of statements by the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike concerning the Justice Adolphus

Karibi Whyte Hospital and our Malaria Elimination Program.

In the statement to his supporters, Mr. Wike insinuated that I engaged in corrupt practices in these projects.I would have dismissed Wike’s claims as the ranting of a fast drowning man who is disorientated by his circumstances but my duties and obligations as a public servant, accountable to the people of Rivers State does not allow such luxuries.

The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, an association of all medical

doctors in Nigeria on July 1 embarked on a nationwide strike.

With the NMA strike, doctors working in government-owned hospitals have boycotted work, leaving majority of sick Nigerians stranded.

In an open letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, on June 11, the association listed a 24 ‘minimum point’ demand which it expected government to meet before its members would return to work.
