The Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group (ISDMG) has described the move by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) to scrap all earmark taxes which are levied on profit after tax of companies for specific public goods and services as an attempt to nail the coffin of the nation’s education sector.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today held that even though it is morally reprehensible for Mallam Isa Yuguda who was elected Governor of Bauchi state on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2007 to have decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that it is not punishable under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

All Indigenous Musical Property Used By Broadcast Outfits to Attract Royalties Says FG

ImageFederal Government has in a fresh move to protect intellectual property in the country directed that all broadcast outfits who use indigenous Nigerian music to boost their programmes begin the remittance of royalties to the Copyright Society of Nigeria, mandated by it to collect the funds on its behalf.

For a second consecutive time, the duo of Senator Nicholas Yahaya Ugbane representing Kogi state and Hon.  Ndudi Elumelu representing Delta state at the National Assembly, failed in their ploy to derail their trial before the court over their involvement in a contract scam perpetrated at the Rural Electrification Agency in 2008 involving a mind blowing sum of 5.2 billion Naira.
